For the second year in a row, we had the pleasure of taking part in the Vigo Sax Forum as guest artists and faculty members. The seventh edition of this saxophone festival took place from June 28 to July 5 in Valladares, Vigo, bringing together more than 250 lessons led by 10 internationally renowned saxophonists. In this blog post, we share all the highlights of this unforgettable week!

On Monday, June 29, we began teaching at the Valladares Professional Conservatory of Music. We had the pleasure of working with talented elementary- and professional-level students, as well as several chamber music ensembles. Once again, we were delighted by both the high standard and the enthusiasm of the participants.

On Wednesday, July 1, we gave a concert at the Auditorio de Valladares, performing works by Bartók, Bruch, Saint-Saëns, Piazzolla, and Salleras. We were also joined by two outstanding guest soloists: Judith Montero performed Max Bruch's Romance, Op. 85, arranged by Roberto Pacheco, while David Salleras performed his own work Alma Roja. Both pieces were arranged for alto saxophone and saxophone quartet. Without a doubt, it was an unforgettable concert and the perfect way to begin a wonderful week of summer music-making.

Throughout the remainder of the festival, we balanced an intensive teaching schedule with time spent alongside the other faculty members and students. We enjoyed inspiring conversations about music and the saxophone with Nicolas Arsenijevic, Christian Wirth, João Pedro Silva, Roberto Pacheco, Judith Montero, Adrián Vilaboa, and David Salleras. It was also a pleasure to attend the festival's other concerts, including the performances by the Misxtura Ensemble.
Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Tomás Alonso, the festival's director, teacher, and friend, for inviting us back once again and making us feel so welcome. We are also grateful to Sheila, Anxo, and Alba for their excellent organization, and to all the students and friends who shared this intense and memorable week with us.
We hope to be back again in the future!
