On April 24, we landed in Valencia to begin a short but intense rehearsal period. Together with stage director Laura Moise, we worked on the new version of the staged tale Selkie by Brais González. In this blog article, we tell you all the latest updates!

The month of July will be full of activities, rehearsals, and performances. One of these projects will be the premiere of the new staged version of Selkie, a work by Brais González that we commissioned and premiered in 2024. This project has been supported by the Cafe Bauhaus Award 2026 from the European Union Youth Orchestra, which will allow us to further develop the concept of Selkie and substantially improve it.

On the very day of our arrival in Gandía, where Lítore is based this time, rehearsals began. Laura Moise welcomed us into her theater school, Act and Play, which became our artistic laboratory. From the very beginning, guided by Laura, we started reshaping the stage movement of the piece. With the utmost respect for the original music and libretto, we also worked on the interpretation of the texts.
We also took advantage of our time in Gandía to rehearse part of the repertoire we will perform this summer, such as the new arrangement by Vicent Orón of Transylvanian Dances by Béla Bartók, and the Concerto for Saxophone Quartet by David Maslanka. On Sunday the 26th, we visited the auditorium in Alfauir, the town that will host the performance on July 15. And of course, we also enjoyed the delicious dishes prepared by Sira’s mother, who took wonderful care of us during these days. Thank you so much, Sira!

On Monday, April 27, we returned to our respective homes with a clear vision of the new Selkie and a strong desire to keep working on the final details. New costumes, original stage effects, and a much more vibrant interpretation will define the new concept of the piece. See you in July!
