The final meeting of 2025 took place under the Mediterranean sun. Molins de Rei and Gandía hosted a new programme that we wished to dedicate to the victims and those affected by the DANA disaster in Valencia, which marked its first anniversary on October 29th. In this blog article, we share all the details of the gathering and some previews of the projects coming in 2026.

On November 9th we were already in Barcelona, ready to begin working. The programme featured several new elements: Albada by Vicente Asencio and Tres Piezas Breves by Adam Ferrero, representing Valencian composers; an arrangement of the famous Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns; and the world premiere of Cantes de Agua y Duelo, a work by composer Mauricio Sotelo.

We spent the first days of the meeting in Molins de Rei, mainly carrying out intensive rehearsal sessions to prepare the first concert in the assembly hall of the Museu del Renaixement. We were fortunate to perform for a full house, as all tickets had sold out a week before the concert. Special thanks to Miquel Bofill, former saxophone teacher of our baritone saxophonist Miquel, for trusting us and inviting us to bring our music to Molins. Thanks also to Eva and Jordi, Miquel’s parents, for taking such good care of us during these days.
On Friday the 14th we woke up early to catch a train to Gandía. The Casa de la Marquesa awaited us on Saturday the 15th for a very special concert, featuring the presence of Mauricio Sotelo. There, we not only enjoyed the incredible Valencian cuisine and the pleasant weather: we also took advantage of Friday afternoon and Sunday morning to work with the wonderful stage director and theatre teacher Laura Moise.
Working with Laura was truly special. Our goal is to improve our upcoming Selkie tour through the “Empty Spain”, a project awarded the Café Bauhaus Award by the European Union Youth Orchestra. To achieve this, Laura guided us through exercises aimed at enhancing our performance and infusing emotion into the beautiful story composed by Brais González. We learned a great deal from these sessions. Filled with laughter and strong emotional intensity, Laura passed on her tremendous energy and passion for theatre. You’ll soon hear more about this exciting project.

On Sunday the 16th we returned home with the satisfaction of having shared another great project together and successfully achieved our annual goals. Thanks to Sira mother for taking such good care of us and for all her support during our stay in Gandía. See you next time!
