On the 4th of May we met again in Palma to prepare the concert on the 6th in Llubí, Mallorca; and the concert on the 7th in Guardamar de la Safor, Valencia. This third meeting was marked by the premiere of the work Danses i Festes by our friend Pau Cladera, the memorisation of the repertoire and, above all, by the joy that always comes with getting back on stage together.
On Thursday 4th May we started the intense rehearsal days. We worked in depth on works by the composers Eugène Bozza, Alfred Desenclos, William Albright, Héctor Parra and Alexander Glazunov. We also had the opportunity to meet with Pau Cladera again to work on his piece Danses i Festes, which we premiered at the Teatre Municipal de Llubí on Saturday 6th May. Of course, we also had time to celebrate Jaime's 22nd birthday and toast to many more years together.
On Saturday 6th May we held a dress rehearsal at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears, which was attended by some of our friends from the saxophone class at the school. At 20:00 our concert began in Llubí, as part of the Km0 Music Festival organised by the Aprojove foundation. There we performed a programme entitled Sax Populi, made up of works that maintain a link with the people and its cultural particularities from different perspectives. As well as performing works from the original repertoire for saxophone quartet, we closed the concert with an arrangement of the well-known Cançó de bres per a una princesa negra, by the Mallorcan composer Antoni Rodríguez. However, the centrepiece of the programme was undoubtedly the premiere of Pau Cladera's Danses i Festes, inspired by Mallorcan folk songs and melodies. Thank you Pau, both to you and to your family, for your confidence in us to carry out this project and for the pleasure it has been to bring your music to life.
On Sunday morning we travelled to Valencia with our sights set on our concert in Guardamar de la Safor. After eating a good paella, we went to the town hall to prepare the concert. There, surrounded as always by our families, we put an end to this meeting in a very special place for Sira. We would like to thank José Luis Carreres for his unconditional support and his commitment to Lítore to bring the saxophone quartet to the people of Guardamar. We would also like to thank the town hall of Guardamar de la Safor for their confidence in our work. It has been a great pleasure to play in Valencia again!
Thanks to all those people who have accompanied us in this adventure, especially to Sira and Miquel's parents, who have taken care of us and supported us enormously during these days. This doesn't stop! See you soon!
